　　处暑无三日，新凉直万金。今天我们迎来处暑节气。

　　Three days after End of Heat, the coolness is priceless. Today we welcome the End of Heat.

　　“处，止也，暑气至此而止矣”。炎热的夏天逐渐消退，“新凉直万金”的初秋闪亮登场。

　　“Chu means stop, the heat stops here.“ The hot summer gradually subsides, and the priceless coolness of early autumn arrives.

　　正如白居易所说：“离离暑云散，袅袅凉风起。”

　　As Bai Juyi said, “The clouds of summer scatter, and the gentle cool breeze rises.“

　　处暑期间，最大的物候变化在风和云。

　　During End of Heat, the biggest changes are in the wind and clouds.

　　此时的风，是轻轻柔柔的凉风；此时的云，渐变成丝丝缕缕的卷云或淡积云，“天高云淡”；

　　The wind now is a gentle, cool breeze; the clouds gradually turn into wispy cirrus or light cumulus clouds, with “high skies and light clouds“;

　　农人说此时天气“一场秋雨一场凉”，对气候的变化有更直白的表述。

　　Farmers describe the weather changes plainly “each autumn rain brings cooler weather.“

　　未觉夏已尽，时至已新秋。

　　Before we notice, summer is gone and autumn has arrived.

　　古人将处暑分为三候：

　　Ancient people divided End of Heat into three periods:

　　一候鹰乃祭鸟，第一个五天里，鹰击长空，下掠捕食众鸟；

　　First, eagles are sacrificing. In the first five days, eagles soar high and swoop down to hunt other birds;

　　二候天地始肃，第二个五日，天地间万物开始凋零；

　　Second, heaven and earth begin to wilt. In the next five days, everything starts to wither;

　　三候禾乃登，第三个五日中，稻子、高粱等开始成熟。

　　Third, crops ripen. In the last five days, rice and sorghum begin to mature.

　　“登”字的甲骨文十分形象，描绘出一幕祭祀的场景：一人双手捧着豆，双脚在前，突出向上攀登之意。

　　The oracle bone script for “登“ (rise) is very vivid, depicting a scene of offering: a person holding beans in both hands, with feet positioned forward, symbolizing an upward climb.

　　对农人而言，风调雨顺、五谷丰登是时光和大地给予的最好礼物。

　　For farmers, favorable weather and abundant harvests are the best gifts given by time and the earth.

　　“处暑高粱遍地红”，处暑后，作物将成熟、收获；

　　“End of Heat sees sorghum turning red all over the fields,“ after End of Heat, crops will mature and be harvested;

　　处暑尾声时，也恰是渔业收获的好时候，威海的禁渔即将结束，千帆竞发撒下金秋“第一网”。

　　At the end of End of Heat, it's also a good time for fishing. The fishing ban in Weihai is about to end, and countless boats will set sail to cast the first net of the golden autumn.
