白鹭是一种非常美丽的水鸟，被称为“大气和水质状况的监测鸟”，享有“环保鸟”的美誉，对环境要求很高，白鹭特别讲究居住环境，对栖息地的大气、水质等环境因素非常敏感。在位于南海新区的威海五垒岛湾国家湿地公园，成群的白鹭时而展翅盘旋，时而拍翅降落，时而低头觅食，构成了一幅灵动的生态画卷，让威海南海多出几分“青山碧水白鹭飞”的诗意和灵动。
