狮舞是大家耳熟能详的中国优秀民族传统艺术，但你见过“着火”的狮子吗？在山东莘县，就有这样一种独特的狮舞——温庄火狮子。它是因其狮毛由点燃的火捻组成，演出时通身窜火星而得名。

　　Lion dance is a widely recognized and cherished traditional folk art in China. But have you ever seen a “fiery“ lion? In Shenxian, Shandong, there exists a unique form of lion dance called the “Wenzhuang Fire Lion Dance.“ The lion’s mane is composed of 3,600 ignited kindling, creating a mesmerizing display of sparks during the performance.

　　狮舞是吉祥的象征，能表达人们的美好心愿和幸福向往。早在千年前的宋代，莘县周遭区域就有“火狮子现，瘟疫散”的传说，因此莘县温庄火狮子有着人们除害消灾的精神寄托，深受广大民众的热爱，流传广泛，并于2007年入选山东省第一批省级非物质文化遗产名录。

　　Lion dance symbolizes good fortune and represents people's aspirations for a better life. As early as in the Song Dynasty, thousands of years ago, there was a legend in the surrounding areas of Shenxian that “When the Fire Lion Dance appears, the epidemic dissipates.“ Thus, the Wenzhuang Fire Lion Dance holds a spiritual significance for the locals, as it represents warding off disasters and misfortunes. This captivating dance has gained immense popularity and was selected into the first batch of Shandong provincial intangible cultural heritage list in 2007.

　　据说最初的火狮子表演有两只大狮子、两只小狮子、一名逗狮人，但现在的表演中基本没有小狮子了。在表演前，表演者要先披上湿麻袋，再套上捻子外衣。火狮子舞动起来时，通身闪烁着点点火星，十分壮观。但受道具材料限制，火狮子表演一次通常只有10分钟左右。表演者手指投地，模仿狮子动作，翻腾跳跃，烟雾腾腾，加之鼓乐齐鸣，气势恢弘。观众只看到由细碎的火星勾勒出的威武高大的狮子形象，却看不见舞狮子的人。当火狮子追逐跳跃时，火星不停地抖落，在其晃肩抖毛时，通身火星四溅，顺着风势，忽明忽暗，堪称奇观。

　　In the past, the performance included two large lions, two small lions, and a lion teaser, but nowadays, the small lions are rarely seen. The performers don the wet gunny-bag and wear a “kindling coat“ before showcasing the Fire Lion Dance.As the Fire Lion dances, its entire body emits a breathtaking shower of sparks, creating a splendid spectacle. Due to material limitations, the performance usually lasts around 10 minutes.The dancers skillfully imitate the lion's movements, tumbling and leaping, surrounded by smoke, while the thunderous beats of drums add to the grandeur.The audience witnesses the majestic and towering lion figure outlined by the dancing sparks, while the performers remain concealed behind this fiery display. As the Fire Lion leaps and frolics, sparks continuously fall, and when the lion shakes its shoulders and mane, the sparks scatter in all directions, creating an extraordinary visual delight.

　　温庄火狮子在传承过程中遵循了口传身授的教学方式，具有鲜明的家族烙印。目前，传承人们经过多年的研究，对火狮子进行了改进，使之有了更强的观赏性。在火狮子成为省级非遗之后，政府相关部门每年会拨付一定资金，帮助这项光与火的技艺顺利传承下去。

　　In preserving the Wenzhuang Fire Lion Dance, the traditional method of oral imparting with physical instruction has been followed, ensuring a distinct family legacy. Over the years, the inheritors have made improvements to enhance the visual appealof Fire LionDance.Following its designation as a provincial-level intangible cultural heritage, relevant government departments provide annual funding to ensure the smooth continuation of this mesmerizing skill that combines light and kindling.
